Robotic compliance packaging

The packs are produced by automated dispensing machines and are virtually error free. The system is supported by machine operators, quality checking staff and final checking performed by our Pharmacists. The sachets are simple to use and reduce the time required for medication rounds. Your key staff and Medical Officers have access to resident medication information and history over our password protected Medication Management System (MPS Healthstream) website.

This comprehensive website allows you access to many features including giving you the option to make notes, send messages to the pharmacy, viewing drug information, etc.

Pharmacist services

Multi-disciplinary patient care reviews: A Pharmacist will review the patient’s current medication and make recommendations where appropriate. This is conducted on request by the facility.

Alternative therapy recommendations: The Pharmacist will consult with the prescriber over unusual chartings of medication regimes, or possible medication interactions noted when a new medication is first started. Any changes made are also communicated back to the facility.

In-service education sessions: A suitably qualified person will present a one hour interactive education session on a topic of the facility’s choice. These sessions go toward staff continuing education points, and there are 2 free sessions available per facility annually. Some examples of topics are - bowel management, safe medication administration, medications and the elderly, analgesics. We are happy to provide education sessions on any topic of your interest.

On-Call Pharmacist: A Pharmacist is available for emergency medication supply outside normal business hours.

Medicine information

Medicine information file: Medicine data sheets are available in print form for all medicines supplied by the pharmacy. Information includes; indications, common side effects, medicine appearance and contraindications. A medicine file can be arranged for all medicines used by the facility and added to as needed.

MPS Healthstream: Live patient profiles can be viewed via the secure MPS Healthstream website which incorporates patient-specific information along with medicine information at the click of a button. This is the same information the pharmacy uses to produce the patients robotic rolls.

Medication queries: A Pharmacist is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week by phone for all medication queries.

Monthly newsletter: A newsletter is sent to the facility every month. There you will find a list medications that are out of stock, new medicines available, medicine appearance changes, discontinued products and any other useful industry information from the pharmacy.

Hear to Care

I would like to take an opportunity to introduce to you a very special program pharmacy one has designed. The program is called "Hear to Care." It is an initiative which is aimed to build on one of our core values "we give more than we get."

It is based on an idea several staff members had around “Random Act of Kindness Day”. The idea was to give something back to the people whose medication we look after. Since many people we are looking after are challenged with being alone, we thought it would be an opportunity to offer those people a special moment in time to spend with one of our team members. It’s a way of saying thanks for the contribution they have made to us as a society and to hopefully brighten their day a little.

We are aiming to meet with people who may not have family members visiting them for a while or would like someone to talk to.

The program is purely voluntary and it’s free!

If you are interested in this program contact us.

Medico compliance packaging

The blister packs of medication are produced by a team of experienced Pharmacy Technicians and are checked by our Pharmacist team. Although this is not our preferred option of solid dose packaging, it is available to you if it is your preferred option.

Medicine management

Chart checks: A pharmacy staff member will check the facility medication charts against pharmacy records, to ensure documentation is coordinated and all pharmaceutical supplies match what is being charted/scripted by the prescribers. Charts will also be checked for regular Dr reviews and suggestions are made for lower cost medicines where applicable. A report is then sent through to facility management with all findings. This is conducted regularly, usually on a 3 – 6 monthly frequency.

Facility meetings: A pharmacy staff member will attend multidisciplinary / service continuum / clinical meetings with facility staff and Doctors to discuss current issues and updates.

Stock management: Medication stock systems can be implemented (for hospital level facilities) and will be checked and maintained on a bi-monthly basis. All expired stock will be removed and replaced, stock levels checked and signed off.

Policies and procedures: Full standard operating procedures and policies pertaining to pharmacy/medicine management systems are available to facilities wanting to incorporate these into their own policies and procedures.

Assistance with managing costs: Courtesy reminders sent to Doctors (and facilities where requested) for upcoming expiries on special authority numbers, patient subsidy cards, etc,. to ensure full government funding is continuous.

Medicine returns: All medication returns can be sent back to the pharmacy for destruction via the delivery drivers. (Please note: Controlled Drugs and sharps are not included in this service). Controlled Drugs are sent back by special request.

Other services

Incident reporting: A comprehensive report is filed upon any medication incident. This is sent to all members of pharmacy management, a thorough follow up is conducted and the report is fed back to facility management (where applicable) with details of immediate actions, recommendations and preventative actions. Our goal is to report any incident back to the facility within 3 working days.

Deliveries: A “track ‘n’ trace” system is used to deliver all pharmacy orders to the facility ensuring safe delivery to the right address. This is a daily service.

Free post service: Free post envelopes are supplied to the facility for sending all prescriptions and other pharmacy-required paperwork back to the pharmacy.

Dedicated support person: Our Customer Relations Manager is available for the facility to liaise with in regards to all matters of the pharmacy service. – Jessica is your ‘facility representative’ in the pharmacy and will action any processes deemed appropriate to ensure the smooth running of service in your facility.
